I’ve just finished the final touches to a couple of posters I’ve been working on. For the first poster i have created 2 colour variations, this is because i couldn’t decide whether i wanted the over all colour to be mellow or vibrant. I think both variations work quite well although i probably prefer the colourful version because it brings it to life a little more. As for the second poster i was going for simplicity, especially with the colour scheme. I didn’t quite pull off the second poster how i imagined it in my head but its near enough!
So here they are:
I was just looking at some stuff on SND, and i found this video of a recent set that was performed in Berlin.
For those of you who have not heard of SND i suggest you take a look at his site here.
In this video, all audio commands are linked directly to a visual, colour command. As the set progresses, more lines seem to be added from the right, as the rest compress towards the left. At any point in the performance, the far left is the start of the set, and the far right is the latest music change to be made.

This is not an electronic album to look over.

Sartre is currently looking into putting together a podcast with similar content to the blog. It will contain talks about the music and influences, feature mindless ramblings about various topical events, and anything else I think you good people would like to hear. I’m currently looking into how i can kit my studio out for this application, as it is a relatively new venture.
Sartre will also answer any emails people have, so get sending us content! info@sartremusic.net
Stay tuned for the voice of Sartre…
As we all know by now, YouTube is a fantastic way to get yourself seen by potentially millions of people all around the world and it’s also a great way to show off your creativity and talents. YouTube has bought along many craze’s such as video blogging, comedic miming over cheesy songs, and other things also video related. However the best thing, for me, that has come out of YouTube is Kutiman. His work is absolutely excellent! This guy basically spent a very long time turning YouTube clips into music, and GOOD music too. His websites consists of 7 tracks that he has made, all good in my opinion and the website itself is really cool, it’s simple but a very nice idea. I will include some of his work below but head over to his website for the full playlist - www.thru-you.com
Amazing!
Today, as i was browsing through the paper, past the news on the G20 summit and the Queens new ipod, and i reached the Obituaries. Being a section i very rarely read i was expecting to skim ready the names, realize i don’t know any of them, and carry on to the crossword. However, something caught my eye on that page, it was an old back and white photograph taken by Helen Levitt. It featured three children wearing Halloween masks, clearly waiting for something, their mother perhaps? The eldest of the children looks on down the street with the composure and reflectiveness of an adult looking at a distant sunset. I had never heard, or seen any work by Helen Levitt but yet I was compelled to read on. The full Obituary can be found on the Guardian Unlimited site here.

She died at the age of 95. Here is a small selection of some of her work:
Here’s a mock up of what our album cover could potentially look like. It is more likely however, that this will not be the final design as we feel a more retro/vintage design will work better with our music.
More info on it’s way..
